THP continues its community outreach this International Children’s Day

As part of the celebrations for International Children’s Day on 1 June, Mr. David Riddle, Acting Chief Executive Office of Tan Hiep Phat Beverage Group, and other team members presented gifts to 49 children from the Ho Chi Minh City area who have been orphaned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each child lost one or more parents to COVID-19 and has been sponsored by THP since last year as part of the “Walk with Your Child for the Rest of Their Life” program, initiated by the Thanh Nien newspaper in 2021.

The “Walk with Your Child for the Rest of Their Life” program was established in order to make a practical contribution to helping thousands of children overcome the great pain caused by the loss of their parents. It offers them assistance in their everyday lives as well as ensuring that they receive the right support from the wider community.

Mr. David Riddle, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Tan Hiep Phat Beverage Group, explained: “The COVID-19 pandemic affected children more than anyone else in society. While nothing can replace a parent, at THP we believe we have a duty to help however we can to ensure they have a bright future ahead of them.”

Mr. Riddle continued: “Tan Hiep Phat Beverage Group supports the children with their daily living and learning, alongside events like International Children’s Day today where we come to show our commitment to them and to celebrate and give thanks for all children in Vietnam and around the world.”

International Children’s Day has been celebrated annually on 1 June since 1950 but has roots going back to the nineteenth century. It was established to honour children, who are also commemorated in Vietnam during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

“We will continue supporting these children as they grow into adulthood,” said Mr. Riddle. “This is a part of our broader commitment to the communities in which we operate and the Vietnamese people whom we serve.”

Since its foundation in 1994, philanthropy has been a central part of THP’s activities, reflecting its core values of being responsible to the community and serving society. In addition to the program “Walk with Your Child for the Rest of Their Life,” Tan Hiep Phat Beverage Group has often pioneered and supported numerous impactful community activities throughout the country.

Some of the programs that THP has worked on, and will be supporting, include: Connecting with Love; Dropping Water of Gratitude; Building Bridges for Poor Communes in the West; and Donating Cows to Disadvantaged Households. These have contributed to creating greatly improved living conditions for disadvantaged people in some of the poorer areas of our nation.

Tan Hiep Phat realises it has a duty to work hard to support the communities in which its business operates, and is committed to continually creating innovative programs to offer some of the most disadvantaged residents a better life.
