May 13, 2025 — On the afternoon of May 12, Nhan Dan Newspaper, in collaboration with the Vietnam Sports Administration, the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation, and the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Da Nang City, held a press conference announcing the 43rd Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championship 2025.
The tournament, which runs from May 19 to 26 at the Tien Son Sports Arena in Da Nang, commemorates the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth date and looks ahead to the 80th anniversaries of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2). Organized under the direction of the Party Secretariat since 1982, this prestigious annual championship draws national attention and represents the pinnacle of Vietnam’s table tennis scene.
This year’s tournament arrives at a time of renewed momentum in Vietnamese table tennis, with players actively training and competing in preparation for the upcoming 33rd Southeast Asian Games and the 2026 National Sports Games.
Thanks to the strong support of Da Nang’s leadership and local authorities, this year’s event will welcome nearly 200 athletes from 21 professional teams representing provinces, cities, sectors, and enterprises nationwide. Top table tennis centers such as Hanoi, Hai Duong, Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa, the Army, and T&T Police will compete across seven categories: men’s and women’s team events; men’s and women’s singles; men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles.

Expectations are high for fierce competition and elevated performance levels. The tournament will feature national team members recently returned from overseas training, promising young athletes who earned top honors at the 2025 Southeast Asian Youth Championship, and several emerging teams—reflecting the growing depth and dynamism of Vietnamese table tennis.
The competition will follow a two-stage format: group round-robins followed by knockout rounds. Team events and singles matches will follow a best-of-five format, with semifinals and finals played as best-of-seven. Doubles categories will follow a single-elimination format with best-of-five matches.

In addition to the standard seven sets of medals (each including one gold, one silver, and two bronze awards), totaling 28 prizes in line with regulations from the Vietnam Sports Administration and Table Tennis Federation, Nhan Dan Newspaper will present two “Rising Star” awards to the most outstanding male and female youth athletes, along with two special awards—one recognizing a locality with strong grassroots development efforts and another honoring the host city.
Prize funding remains a key highlight this year, with a total purse of VND 500 million. Men’s and women’s team champions will receive VND 50 million each, while men’s and women’s singles champions will each earn VND 30 million.
This marks the fifth consecutive year that Tân Hiệp Phát Group has partnered with the Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championship. The beverage giant joins a broad group of leading brands and sponsors, helping ensure that athletes compete with equipment and infrastructure that meet international standards.
Tân Hiệp Phát has been a steadfast supporter of Vietnamese sports for nearly three decades. Aligned with the government’s directive to promote sustainable and professional sports development, the company has long supported major events, including marathons, cycling tournaments in Binh Duong and An Giang, and the Ba Ra mountain climbing race. It has also sponsored youth-focused competitions such as the secondary school football tournament Number 1 Active Cup and Hanoi’s Secondary School and Collegiate Youth Badminton Championship—fostering a culture of fitness and physical activity across Vietnam.
