ANTD.VN – In childhood memories, International Children’s Day on June 1 is often associated with gifts, joy, and the love of family. For the children of fallen police officers and those who lost a parent serving in the Hanoi Police Force, however, childhood arrived burdened by hardships no child should ever have to endure.
For these children, the care and companionship extended by those who have quietly stood beside them over the years have become an invaluable source of encouragement. While no amount of support can replace what has been lost, such compassion and solidarity have helped them find the strength to grow, pursue their dreams, and move forward in life with confidence.
A Journey of Compassion
On the afternoon of June 1, 2026, at the headquarters of An Ninh Thủ Đô (Capital Security) newspaper, a meaningful annual gathering once again took place.
Children of fallen police officers, children who had lost a parent serving in the police force, their families, journalists, and representatives of Tân Hiệp Phát Group came together in an atmosphere of warmth and familiarity.
The occasion was not merely an opportunity to present gifts in celebration of International Children’s Day. It was also a chance for those who have accompanied these families over many years to express their continued care, encouragement, and support.
Beyond the material value of the gifts lay something far more enduring: the continuation of comradeship, responsibility, and affection for children who have faced profound loss at an early age.
Behind this gathering stands a charitable journey that An Ninh Thủ Đô has quietly nurtured for nearly three decades.
Since the late 1990s, through the charitable fund “Bầu ơi thương lấy bí cùng” (“Mutual Care and Compassion”), generations of police officers and journalists from An Ninh Thủ Đô have joined hands to support children of fallen police officers and orphaned children of police personnel facing difficult circumstances.
Though the monthly allowances have never been large, they have been provided consistently, becoming a dependable source of support that has helped many families weather some of the most challenging years of their lives.

In the mission of safeguarding peace and security, many officers made the ultimate sacrifice while still very young.
Behind those sacrifices were wives suddenly forced to shoulder the responsibilities of both parents, and children who grew up without a father’s presence, knowing him only through photographs and stories shared by relatives.
The void left by such loss can never truly be filled. Yet the bonds of comradeship and the compassion of the wider community have given many families the strength to persevere and continue nurturing the dreams of their children.
Lieutenant Colonel Vũ Mạnh Hùng, Deputy Head of the Editorial Board of An Ninh Thủ Đô, emphasized that caring for the children of fallen and deceased police officers is not only a humanitarian initiative but also a meaningful act of gratitude toward those who dedicated—and in some cases sacrificed—their lives for the peace and security of Hanoi and the nation.
For that reason, the program extends far beyond the presentation of gifts or financial assistance.
What the newspaper’s staff have sought to preserve over the years is long-term companionship: supporting children from their earliest years through adulthood, encouraging their education, helping them overcome life’s difficulties, and strengthening their belief in the future.
Spreading Humanitarian Values
Beginning in 2025, this meaningful initiative received significant support from Tân Hiệp Phát Group through the program “Together for Their Future”, a nearly VND 1 billion commitment running from 2025 through 2031.
Thanks to this partnership, monthly assistance provided to each child has increased substantially, creating a valuable source of encouragement and support from both the journalists of An Ninh Thủ Đô and Tân Hiệp Phát.
At the event, Ms. Nguyễn Thị Cẩm Phượng, Deputy Director of External Affairs and Public Relations at Tân Hiệp Phát Group, shared that everyone faces challenges in life. However, the company’s greatest hope in supporting the children of fallen police officers is to ensure that they can grow up with the innocence, joy, and carefree spirit appropriate to their age.

Tân Hiệp Phát’s objective is not merely to help these children overcome immediate hardships. The company hopes to accompany them over the long term, becoming a source of support that empowers them to pursue their dreams and approach adulthood with confidence.
Every child deserves the opportunity to grow and thrive in a positive environment. Investing in children today, the company believes, helps build a stronger foundation for the sustainable development of the community tomorrow.
The initiative also reflects Tân Hiệp Phát’s philosophy of “Living Responsibly,” particularly through long-term programs focused on younger generations. Through these efforts, the company seeks to spread humanitarian values while supporting the Party and State’s longstanding policy of honoring and repaying those who have rendered service and sacrifice to the nation.
On occasions dedicated to children, such as International Children’s Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival, company representatives hope to meet with the children, hear about their studies, daily lives, and future aspirations, and provide encouragement—or additional support—wherever possible.

Representatives of the company delivered a heartfelt message to the children:
“Always be proud of your family’s tradition and of your father. That pride will become your anchor, your faith, and your greatest source of strength to overcome life’s challenges and achieve your dreams.”
Stories of Strength and Perseverance
During the gathering, many attendees were moved by the personal stories shared by the families.
Đỗ Thu Quỳnh, widow of the late Vũ Phương Đông, formerly an officer of Thanh Lương Ward Police Station, vividly remembers the difficult days following her husband’s passing. Their son, Vũ Châu Phong, was only ten months old at the time.
Forced to assume the roles of both father and mother, she faced countless worries and challenges while raising her child alone.
During those difficult years, the support and encouragement provided by An Ninh Thủ Đô and its partners became an emotional lifeline that helped mother and son move forward with resilience.
The little boy who never had the chance to know his father’s embrace has now completed eighth grade with outstanding academic achievements.
For Quỳnh, his success represents not only a mother’s pride but also a way of honoring the care and support that her husband’s colleagues and long-time benefactors have extended to their family over the years.

Quỳnh’s story is not unique.
Other mothers have also endured profound loss, sustained by resilience and the compassion of those around them.
Tô Thùy Vân faced the greatest tragedy of her life while eight months pregnant with her daughter. She was only in her mid-twenties.
The loss of her husband came before their child was even born, casting uncertainty over what lay ahead for both mother and daughter.
Yet support from relatives, fellow officers, and the staff of An Ninh Thủ Đô helped her find the strength to overcome those darkest days.
For Vân, the financial assistance itself may not have been substantial. What mattered most was the feeling that she and her daughter had never been forgotten.
Drawing strength from that compassion, she quietly raised her daughter while preserving cherished memories of the father her child would never meet.
Years after her father’s sacrifice, Kiều Tâm Anh has become one of the top-performing students of the school year.
Watching her daughter mature, Vân carries a simple wish: to raise her well, so that she may continue the dreams her father left unfinished and live in a way worthy of the sacrifices made by the generations before her.
Elsewhere in the hall sat Trần Phương Phương, daughter of the late Trần Khắc Tiệp of the Mobile Police Division, preparing to enter her final year of secondary education.
Her path to adulthood has been closely intertwined with the program’s ongoing support.
The modest but consistent allowances provided year after year have helped ease her family’s burden while motivating her to persevere in her studies.
To Phương, that support serves as a constant reminder that there are people who continue to believe in and care about the younger generation.
For that reason, she remains determined to excel academically and live up to the faith that others have placed in her.

The gathering unfolded in a simple yet deeply heartfelt atmosphere, marked by smiles, handshakes, and sincere conversations.
What lingered afterward was not the memory of the gifts distributed on International Children’s Day, but rather the enduring sense of companionship that has been preserved across the years.
It was the reassurance that families who have experienced loss have never been forgotten—that there remain people standing quietly beside them, sharing their burdens and following their journeys with care.
Perhaps that is the most meaningful gift of all: the gift of unwavering faith that loving hands will continue to accompany these children on the road ahead, allowing young lives shaped by loss to grow strong, flourish, and step confidently toward the future.
Since 2025, An Ninh Thủ Đô‘s long-running support program for the children of fallen and deceased police officers has been strengthened through Tân Hiệp Phát Group’s “Together for Their Future” initiative, a nearly VND 1 billion commitment spanning 2025–2031.
The partnership has enabled an increase in monthly assistance for every beneficiary, providing meaningful encouragement and sustained support from both An Ninh Thủ Đô and Tân Hiệp Phát Group as the children pursue their education and future aspirations.
