Clearing the Mind for Tết: When Young People Set Anxiety Aside to Welcome a Lighter New Year

In the final days of the year, amid the rush of traffic and hurried footsteps, there are moments that slow everything down: a lunchtime video call home, a late-night bus leaving the city, or a few quiet minutes after a long shift to shake off the day’s pressure with a bottle of Zero Degree Green Tea (Trà Xanh Không Độ).

In those moments, many young people come to realize that Tết (Lunar New Year) isn’t only about going home or staying put—it’s also a time to reset, to tidy up what’s inside.

For many young adults today, Tết is no longer about the pressure of “having to go home” or “having to look successful.” Instead, it has become a journey of learning how to set worries aside, clear out stress, and give themselves permission to feel lighter after a year of upheaval. When the mind gets a chance to rest—when everyone finds their own way to cool down and welcome spring—that’s when Tết truly begins.

Going Home or Staying Put: Every Choice Comes with Its Own Pressure

As Tết approaches, the familiar question—“Are you going home this year?”—returns to weigh on young people living far from home. Airports and bus stations grow more crowded by the day. Spring flower markets burst into color. The atmosphere of Tết fills the streets, yet emotions vary widely.

For many young people, Tết is already close. It’s also the moment Gen Z begins to cool down and welcome spring, looking ahead to a happier, more fortunate new year.

Some can’t wait to return home and reunite with family. Others stay behind in the city to keep working. Some choose an entirely new way to celebrate—“online reunions” through phone screens. No matter the choice, what many share is the desire to leave the weight of the old year behind, to cool down and welcome spring so that Tết doesn’t arrive burdened with stress.

After a year of economic uncertainty—with unstable jobs and unpredictable incomes for many—Tết is no longer about lavish shopping or elaborate decorations. Instead, people are choosing to clean their homes, and just as importantly, clear their minds.

When “Cleaning for Tết” Means Clearing Your Emotions

For Phương Linh, a production team leader at an industrial park in Bình Dương, this year’s Tết marks a long-awaited return after years of missed holidays. After multiple Lunar New Years spent working overtime or away from home, she decided to take her husband and children back to her hometown in Hưng Yên.

Made from natural green tea leaves with EGCG, Zero Degree Green Tea is a favorite Tết-time drink among young people, helping them cool down and welcome spring while looking toward a happier new year.

“I want to take my child to the Tết market so they can really feel what a hometown Tết is like,” Linh shared. “I want to prepare the five-fruit tray myself, and stock up on a few cases of Zero Degree Green Tea made from natural green tea leaves with EGCG, so the whole family can let go of the fatigue and stress of the old year.”

For Linh, clearing the mind isn’t about anything grand—it’s simply allowing herself to slow down after too many rushed Tết seasons. It’s the feeling of coming home, cooling down to welcome spring, and letting Tết truly feel like Tết again.

On the other hand, Tuấn (born in the 1990s, from Thanh Hóa) chose to stay in Ho Chi Minh City and “work through Tết.” Formerly in real estate, he switched to food delivery during the year-end rush to earn extra income.

“The job is tougher than I expected,” he admitted. “But when I’m tired, I grab a bottle of Zero Degree Green Tea to relax, or share a cold drink with coworkers and keep going. I just hope the new year will be better.”

Not Going Home for Tết, but Still Needing a Lighter Heart

Many young people stay in the city due to financial realities. Trần Khánh Hưng, a factory worker from Nghệ An, decided to spend Tết in Đồng Nai. During a break, he sipped a bottle of Zero Degree Green Tea—made from natural green tea leaves with EGCG—while video calling his parents back home.

For many, easing stress and fatigue means coping not only with year-end workloads, but also with the emotional weight of deciding whether to go home or stay behind for Tết.

“Telling my parents early that I wouldn’t be coming home made me feel lighter,” Hưng said. “Less worry, less guilt. Once you clear your mind and share your thoughts with family, the stress eases too.”

For many, clearing the mind is about facing reality honestly, instead of letting year-end regrets and worries wear them down even further.

A Simpler Tết, but One That Feels More Complete

Whether they return home or stay put, gather in person or reunite through a screen, many young people are choosing a simpler Tết. Less frantic spending, less emphasis on appearances, and more focus on peace of mind.

For many, Tết represents new joy and new hope. No matter how stressful or exhausting life may be, the final days of the year are when they let go of worries and frustrations—often with bottles of Zero Degree Green Tea—so they can bring laughter and warmth back to their families for the holiday.

Phạm Quang Kha, a construction engineer from Lâm Đồng, sees Tết as a time to clean up after a family upheaval—and to整理 his emotions as well. “Just like the house needs to be tidy to welcome Tết, the heart needs to be cleared of sadness,” Kha said. “When I’m tired, I drink a bottle of Zero Degree Green Tea to ease the stress, share it with my family, and prepare the year-end meal together. That’s when Tết suddenly feels very close.”

For many young people, Tết isn’t about extravagant feasts, but about slowing down, being with loved ones, and letting go of the pressures that have followed them all year.

Clearing the Mind So the New Year Can Begin Lightly

As the year draws to a close, many people choose to “clear the mind” as a way of saying goodbye to the old and welcoming the new—letting go of stress and fatigue, while holding on to trust, kindness, and hope.

With Zero Degree Green Tea helping to ease stress and fatigue, cool down, and welcome spring, the new year can begin with greater happiness and better fortune.

In the end, Tết isn’t measured by how far you travel or how much you buy, but by whether your heart feels lighter. When you cool down to welcome spring and share the refreshing taste of Zero Degree Green Tea—made from natural green tea leaves with EGCG—with loved ones, clearing away the stress and exhaustion of the old year, anyone can step into the new year with calm and quiet joy, no matter where they are.
